First A.M.E. Child Development Center (FAME CDC) offers free center- and Home-Based Early Head Start and Head Start educational programs, as well as child care at our Seattle Vocational Institute site only.
Services are available to prenatal mothers and children ages birth to 5 years. We offer part-day and full-day options for qualifying families that reside in our service boundaries in central and southeast Seattle (Capitol Hill, the Central District, and the Rainier Valley).
Head Start programs promote school-readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutrition, social and other services to enrolled children and their families. In addition to providing a healthful and safe learning environment for children, our staff assist families in providing health and nutritional counseling, collaborate with parents in developing individual and family strengths, and partner with other community services to better meet the needs of families.
