FAME CDC believes that parent’s are their children’s first teacher and we partner with parents to provide meaningful educational services. Furthermore, FAME CDC follows the Reggio Emilia approach. With that, our Head Start programs focus not only on the educational readiness of each child, but also on their social, emotional, and physical development. Reggio Emilia also constructs its philosophy around these core principles:
- Children have control over the direction of their learning;
- Children have opportunities to learn by being creative and exploring ways to express themselves;
- Children must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, seeing and hearing;
- Children and families are our essential partners and we can learn from their experiences and apply them in the classroom and in the context of their families and communities.
In addition to providing safe and constructive learning environments for children, FAME CDC staff assists families in providing health and nutritional counseling, collaborates with families to develop individual family goals, and partners closely with other community services in the area to help better meet the needs and interests of FAME CDC families.
